Hi ghosties! It's about that time again. As we wrap up the latest app round, we've got a new intro & CR meme ready to go for you, plus a few updates from us!

UPCOMING

Some quick updates:

The latest batch of NPC Quests are live! Thanks for your patience while we figure out the best way to make the quest system work for us. We've added a few more quests, plus a few tweaks to the overall structure: we now have a recommended number of characters listed for every quest (which isn't a hard limit, just a note from us on how many characters the quest was designed for), a handful of quests that may be completed multiple times by multiple characters, and a separate section for quests that aren't "assigned" by any NPC, but are rather stumbled upon by characters exploring the world. We hope this helps make the quests easier to interact with, and helps make sure everybody gets a crack at them!

Tomorrow, March 9th, there will be a post on the network comm announcing the next Crossing theme. The Ferryman will not be available this time so feel free to use it as a mingle!

Last but not least, thank you all for your patience the past few weeks! We know we've been a bit slow, but we're getting back into the swing of things and are excited to keep the ball rolling.

CHARACTER NAME: Nagito Komaeda
CANON & CANON POINT: Danganronpa, post-Danganronpa 3; slight AU where Nagito dies from his terminal illnesses
FIRST TOLL: Nagito has forgotten whether or not he died alone.

PLANS: So, bits and pieces of Nagito's more unstable side have come out. Nagito is still trying to handle that on his own, which is to say trying not to talk about it and distance himself from people.

-Even if you haven't explicitly threaded with Nagito, it's fine to assume he's introduced himself by name to your character. Of course, we can also thread that out!
-Nagito has realized he's lost his luck. This is kind of complicated; he's deeply relieved but also doesn't feel like he's allowed to be. It makes him feel more useless not to have it but also it means he's less of a danger to everyone around him. He'll have to get used to this. I'd love to have him talk about it but expect it to get weird and maybe dramatic.
-Since the Ferryman took his luck, this has earned them points with Nagito, though he's not totally conscious of this. This is why he's leaning toward the Salt of the River quest.
-Nagito is still waiting for the other shoe to drop on people being nice to him; he's pulling back and staying more to the sidelines during meetings and other gatherings and focusing on information collecting instead. Feel free to attempt to call him out on this.
-But yes, info gathering! Nagito is good at this. He collects novels for himself, but he's also trying hard to get clues and information about their situation. He is very eager to talk through everything they're learning even if he often insists on some sort of warped Socratic method of discussion.
-Nagito wants the group to succeed, which for him means he can be kind of rude about insisting people aren't in denial about their circumstances. If your character is in denial about being dead, Nagito is here to argue with them.
-Nagito does not want to talk about his own issues or certain specifics of his past. Feel try to try anyway.
-Even if Nagito is kind of pulling away, he still hangs out nearby Sunny and Makoto especially. This does sometimes just mean "is standing against the wall nearest to them," but an observant character might notice this. By contrast, he usually only talks to Mari if she addresses him first, though he's very friendly and polite when she does.

CR WISHES: Nagito does tend to gather negative CR; this is totally fine with me! If your character can put up with Nagito, or is even as weird as he is, then that's great. Having actual friends is good for him even if it can be difficult. Debate him about his weird opinions on hope. Question his calmness in the face of death and trauma and absurdity. Question his extreme lack of calmness in the face of his own issues. He could really use someone who will dig into those, but it would require patience and a high tolerance for hostility.

CR OFFERS: Nagito is good at dealing with weird people. He tends to act very calm in the face of 90% of terrible situations... Until he doesn't, like during certain stressful memory-related situations. If you need someone to very bluntly talk about being dead, Nagito is here for you. He's a good information gathering partner if you can put up with him. He's also a magpie for any information anyone else has; if you're talking clues, Nagito will appear.

ETC?:

I kind of want to put Shep on track for digging into Nagito's issues. I think her No Bullshit plus 'I deal with superpowered aliens on the reg' levels of suspended disbelief might make her a good candidate.

She's certainly stubborn enough, from what I know of her canon! He is probably less of a crisis than all of Mass Effect, at least.
